lights call them to the soft warm chamber
but thoughts are thoughts, too afraid to rip the door
they hear the grinding voices of the magpie
she gathers luminous junks behind the paper
to her nest in me
the brain that matured in the dark
needs to know what the heart feels
needs to see the seedlings grow
but it sees dead trees don’t live
